This tool can be used for coaching or therapy.

  1. Identify the mental pattern(s) and if necessary explain the concept of a pattern.
  2. Build awareness around how and when it shows up.
  3. Investigate the pattern - where it came from and how it serves you. Explore relating to it as a “stupid friend”.
  4. Assess consequences and impact of the pattern.
  5. The culmination of this is when we get to the origin of the pattern, ask about taking the bargain… If someone said you will get x at the expense of repression, inadequacy, and other negative consequences. Would past you have said yes?
